The farm road leading to the camp is quite sandy and may require a high-clearance vehicle. Travelling in low profile vehicles is not advised. Please drive slowly.

You are now on a game reserve. It is not uncommon to encounter snakes and other dangerous animals. Please beware that they can harm you if they feel threatened.

Snake precautions

Immediately seek medical advice if you are bitten by a snake. Not all snake bites are venomous, but a venomous bite can be fatal.

DO NOT provoke a snake. Snakes are shy and will not approach you unless provoked.

If you encounter a snake inside the tent, make sure all guests leave the tent immediately. If possible, close the tent panels and contact your host immediately. A snake handler will be contacted to safely remove the snake.

Bee stings

If you are allergic to bees or experience any of the following symptoms, visit the nearest hospital immediately.

• Feeling of uneasiness, tingling sensations, and dizziness
• Generalised itching
• Swelling of the lips and tongue
• Wheezing and difficulty breathing
• Collapse and loss of consciousness

Please familiarise yourself with the precautions below to prevent monkeys or baboons from accessing the tents.

1. DO NOT FEED MONKEYS/BABOONS. Feeding the monkeys encourages them to return to the camp and the tents.
2. Do not leave any food items outside the tent, or outside the cupboards. This will attract monkeys or baboons.
3. Please place food in the cupboards before leaving the tent.
4. Close all windows and canvas panels when leaving your tent.

Be vigilant at all times. Monkeys and baboons will make use of every opportunity to snatch food from your tent or deck.

If you have any questions or concerns, or if monkeys/baboons managed to access your tent, please contact your host.

Guests are welcome to walk on designated walking trails. For your own safety, NO GUESTS MAY GO RUNNING OR WALKING OUTSIDE OF THE TRAILS PROVIDED. Because of buffalo on the property, certain walking trails may be closed at certain times for safety reasons. Guests will be informed.

Horse riding and game drives are provided to enable guests to explore more of the beautiful areas of the property and these can be booked at reception.

Various species of wildlife can be seen in the reserve and have access to the tent area. These include giraffe, zebra, eland, wildebeest, roan, tsessebe, sable, buffalo, kudu, impala, blesbok, waterbuck and ostrich.

Various wildlife species roam freely in the camp and can be a danger to guests if they feel threatened. Please do not feed any animals on the property.

Do not pick up any tortoises, baby animals, reptiles, eggs, etc.

If you see a sick animal, please inform your host.

A first aid kit is available at reception.

In case of an emergency after hours, please contact your host.

Refuse will be collected from your tent every two days. Alternatively, please let reception know if you need your refuse collected sooner.

Kindly note that all AfriCamps' toilets work with a septic tank system and therefore, cannot handle anything other than natural waste. Please dispose of sanitary products, nappies, wet wipes and earbuds in the bins provided in each bathroom. Thank you for your cooperation in this regard.

If you notice any strong odours coming from the septic system, please call the host.

Water is sourced from a borehole. Water has been analysed and found to be pure and safe for drinking. In case you prefer bottled water, it is available for purchase at the reception.

In the unlikely event that there is no water supply in your tent, it is possible that a pipe has burst, or a pipe/water filter is blocked. Please let us know immediately if this is the case so that we can rectify the problem in the shortest time possible.

Kindly drive slowly through the camp. The speed limit is 20 km/h. Watch out for grazing horses, wildlife, and children.

AfriCamps Waterberg operates entirely on solar power. If you experience any problems with electricity, please contact your host.

According to South African regulations, drones may not be flown within 50 metres of people or private property without permission from the property owner. Prior arrangements need to be made with the camp owners, subject to approval.

No music or excessive noise is allowed at any of our camps unless you have booked the entire property to host a function. Please consider your fellow guests and quiet down completely at 22h00. This is a reserve where nature and tranquility are our first priority. Please notify us if fellow guests are not adhering to our no-noise policy.

Only make fires in the designated areas and practice extreme caution. Please ensure that braai fires are put out before leaving the area. Please do not throw cigarettes and matches on the ground – apart from littering, this can start a raging fire at any time of the year. No fireworks or flares are allowed.

Children must be supervised by adults on our property. There is wildlife and a swimming pool on the farm that can be a danger to small children.

The tents are within a fenced-off area and the area in front of the tents is the view for everyone. Please note that this area is out of bounds for all guests.

Wild animals are encouraged to graze in the field in front of the tents. For their own safety, all children need to be kept within the fenced area unless on a walk with their parents on a designated walking trail. It is important not to frighten off animals that may be grazing in front of the tents. Please do not disturb the game.

A complimentary cleaning service is included for four-night stays or more.

Please remember that all AfriCamps units and locations are self-catering. That means we expect a few things from guests before check-out.

Before you leave:

• Kindly make sure you have washed all the dishes that you used.
• Please place your rubbish in the bin provided.
• If you had to move our furniture around, please make sure all furniture is back where you found it.
• If you used more than one tent, kindly make sure your cutlery and crockery are recovered from other tents.
• There is no need to make the beds.
• Please make sure that you did not accidentally pack any of the tent's contents like towels or kitchenware.
• Please report any accidents or damages to our team.

Please note, a cleaning fee of R250 may be charged if the tents are left in improper condition.
